I started as a dishwasher at a small bar. Then became a bartender when the "real" bartender didn’t show up.Just go to the local bars in the area and put in an application at them. It really isn’t that hard.Go to the local bookstore and pick up a cheap book on mixing drinks,Study it. Buy some shot glasses at a yard sale or at the Goodwill store. Practice mixing drinks with water and cheap stuff so you don’t spend a lot of money.I have been tending bar for over 15 years and I mostly just get "shots" and beer drinkers at the bar I work at. Sometimes we get an odd drink but have a cheat sheet ready in your pocket until you get some experience. If you don’t know how to make it,ask the customer, they usually know what goes in their drink and how to make it.If they really want it they will help you.In Pa. make sure to get the R.A.M.P. training.(Responsible Alcohol Training Program) It will save a lot of heartache it you get busted for selling to underage people Bar-tending is hard work and not for everyone but I love my job! Not everyone can say that.I’m 50years old and love to go to work every day.Tips are pretty good most of the time even now.Hope this helped, go for it!

I worked as a bartender for about a year back sometime in the 90’s. I went to bartending school, but you could just as easily learn how to make drinks from a book, and since it seems you have some experience, you may already know how to make the most popular drinks. The school I went to had job placement services, but their services weren’t really much help. I got a job by going around to various clubs and asking if they had any openings. It also helps if you know someone in the nightclub/bar business.
